Carl Johnston is a partner in the Atlanta-based law firm of FisherBroyles LLP and serves as Mediacurrent’s primary legal counsel. He is involved in a wide range of issues at Mediacurrent, including contract negotiation and review, protection of intellectual property, software licensing, and employment issues. He has more than thirty years of experience assisting clients with corporate and technology matters. He has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions in technology and other industries. He assists high-growth companies plan for and obtain venture capital and angel funding, from negotiation of term sheets through transaction closing. His corporate practice also includes corporate reorganizations, federal and state securities compliance, and corporate governance issues. His technology practice includes the structuring and negotiation of a wide range of agreements, including software and technology licensing, cloud services, professional services, joint development, and strategic alliances.
His experience prior to joining FisherBroyles includes six years with prominent law firms in Washington, DC, and serving as General Counsel of two Japanese-owned technology companies in the Atlanta area. He is also a CPA, and worked for Deloitte for four years before attending law school. When he’s not practicing law, he enjoys hiking, watching basketball, and pursuing his interest in classical music and jazz. He is also the proud father of a wonderful, smart, talented, funny son (okay, so he’s a little biased) who is currently finishing his computer science degree at Georgia Tech.
Undergraduate degree in accounting and a law degree from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Master’s degree in economics from Brown University.
