What information do we collect about you and how?

Mediacurrent, as a data controller, may collect and store personal information that you choose to voluntarily provide to us when you contact us. Personal information includes, but is not limited to, your name, residential or business address, email address or phone number.

If you communicate with Mediacurrent through any contact link on our Site, we may ask you for information such as your name, email address and telephone number so we can respond to your questions and comments. Further information in relation to job application privacy can be found here.

Mediacurrent also automates information collection through the following means:

We are committed to making your online experience with our Site informative and relevant. To achieve this, we collect an IP or Internet Protocol Address, which is a unique numerical address assigned to a computer as it logs on to the internet. Mediacurrent does not have access to any personal identifiable information and we would never seek this information. Your IP address is logged when visiting our site, but our analytic software only uses this information to track how many visitors we have from particular regions. By collecting this information, we learn how to best tailor this Site to our visitors. We collect this information by various means, as explained below.

Cookies are text files put on your computer to collect standard log information and visitor behavior information. Google Tag Manager (“GTM”) is a Tag Management System that allows JavaScript and HTML tags to be quickly deployed and updated on our website for tracking and analytics. Google Optimize utilizes Analytics cookies to target content variants to a user and a content experiment cookie to determine a user's participation in an experiment. Salesforce/Pardot 

Pardot, a Salesforce product, enables organizations to track and measure the effectiveness of their communications, gain insight on user behavior, and personalize content across campaigns. Pardot tracks visitor and prospect activities on your website and landing pages by setting cookies on their browsers. Cookies are set to remember preferences (like form field values) when a visitor returns to your site. Pardot also sets a cookie for logged-in users to maintain the session and remember table filters.

Pardot sets first-party cookies for tracking purposes and sets third-party cookies for redundancy. Using first-party and third-party cookies together is standard in the marketing automation industry. Pardot cookies don’t store personally identifying information, only a unique identifier. Pardot sets first-party cookies on your tracker subdomains and Pardot domains. Acquia Lift Testing & Targeting provides A/B/n and multivariate testing capabilities for Drupal websites. Acquia Lift uses cookies to display targeted or recommended content to visitors, based on persistent, session, and temporary cookie types.

Hotjar 

Hotjar is a technology service that helps us better understand our users’ experience (e.g. how much time they spend on which pages, which links they choose to click, what users do and don’t like, etc.) and this enables us to build and maintain our service with user feedback. Hotjar uses cookies and other technologies to collect data on our users’ behavior and their devices. This includes a device's IP address (processed during your session and stored in a de-identified form), device screen size, device type (unique device identifiers), browser information, geographic location (country only), and the preferred language used to display our website. Hotjar stores this information on our behalf in a pseudonymized user profile. Hotjar is contractually forbidden to sell any of the data collected on our behalf. 

Hotjar does not track or record visitors who have cookies disabled. In fact, the Hotjar script doesn't properly load its different components if it detects that cookies are disabled. The Drift live chat platform provided by Drift.com, Inc enables us to communicate with our visitors. Personal data collected includes cookies, usage data, and data communicated by the visitor while using the service. In order to confirm GDPR compliance, we display a form requesting users within the EU to provide consent for Drift to save their information. Advertising Cookies 

Mediacurrent uses cookies to serve targeted ads. Facebook Pixel, a cookie placed by Facebook, enables Mediacurrent to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns served on Facebook. To opt-out please see https://www.facebook.com/ads/preferences

Mediacurrent also works with NextRoll, Inc. (formerly AdRoll, Inc.) retargeting ads, who uses technology including cookies and tracking pixels to collect data about our website usage.

Use of The Information We Collect

At Mediacurrent we take your privacy seriously and will only use your personal information for the purposes listed below. For prospective clients, our lawful reason for processing your personal information will be “legitimate interests”. Under “legitimate interests” we can process your personal information if We have a genuine and legitimate reason and We are not harming any of your rights and interests.

We may use information about you for various purposes, including to:

  • Respond to your comments, questions and requests;
  • Provide Security alerts for the other purposes listed here;

Personal information may also be transferred to third parties who act for or on our behalf, for further processing in accordance with the purpose(s) for which the data were originally collected or may otherwise be lawfully processed, such as services delivery, evaluating the usefulness of this website, marketing, data management or technical support. These third parties have contracted with us to only use personal information for the agreed upon purpose, and not to sell your personal information to third parties, and not to disclose it to third parties except as may be required by law or as stated in this Privacy Policy.

Personal information collected from you may also be transferred to a third party in the event that the business of this site or a part of it and the customer data connected with it is sold, assigned or transferred, in which case we would require the buyer, assignee or transferee to treat personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. Protection of Children’s Personal Data

The Site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect, use or disclose personally identifiable information from anyone under 13 years of age. If we determine upon collection that a user is under this age, we will not use or maintain his/her personal information without the parent/guardian’s consent. If we become aware that we have unknowingly collected personally identifiable information from a child under the age of 13, we will make reasonable efforts to delete such information from our records.

Right to Request Correction, Transfer and Deletion of Your Information

Otherwise in accordance to any and all applicable laws, you may have the right to request access to and receive information about the personal information that we maintain about you, update and correct your personal information and have the information modified or deleted, as applicable. For verification purposes, we may require proof of identity in order to confirm that you are the individual entitled to request access, before providing information to you.

It is your right to lodge an objection to the processing of your personal data if you feel the “ground relating to your particular situation” apply. The only reasons We will be able to deny your request is if we can show compelling legitimate grounds for the processing of your information, which override your interest, rights and freedoms, or the processing is for the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims.

It is also your right to receive the personal data which you have givenMediacurrent, in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format and have the right to transmit that data to another controller without delay from the current controller if (i) the processing is based on consent or a contract and/or (ii) the processing is carried out by automated means.

Privacy Notice for California Residents

You have the right to request that we delete any of your personal information that we collected from you and retained, subject to certain exceptions. Once we receive and confirm your verifiable consumer request, we will delete (and direct our service providers to delete) your personal information from our records, unless an exception applies.

We may deny your deletion request if retaining the information is necessary for us or our service provider(s) to:

  • Complete the transaction for which we collected the personal information, provide a good or service that you requested, take actions reasonably anticipated within the context of our ongoing business relationship with you, or otherwise perform our contract with you.
  • Detect security incidents, protect against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity, or prosecute those responsible for such activities.

  • Exercise free speech, ensure the right of another consumer to exercise their free speech rights, or exercise another right provided for by law.

  • Engage in public or peer-reviewed scientific, historical, or statistical research in the public interest that adheres to all other applicable ethics and privacy laws, when the information’s deletion may likely render impossible or seriously impair the research’s achievement, if you previously provided informed consent.
  • Enable solely internal uses that are reasonably aligned with consumer expectations based on your relationship with us.
  • Comply with a legal obligation.
  • Make other internal and lawful uses of that information that are compatible with the context in which you provided it.

Exercising Access, Data Portability, and Deletion Rights

To exercise the access, data portability, and deletion rights described above, please submit a verifiable consumer request to us by sending us a message on our website. Only you, or a person registered with the California Secretary of State that you authorize to act on your behalf, may make a verifiable consumer request related to your personal information. You may also make a verifiable consumer request on behalf of your minor child.

You may only make a verifiable consumer request for access or data portability twice within a 12-month period. The verifiable consumer request must:

  • Provide sufficient information that allows us to reasonably verify you are the person about whom we collected personal information or an authorized representative.
  • Describe your request with sufficient detail that allows us to properly understand, evaluate, and respond to it.

We cannot respond to your request or provide you with personal information if we cannot verify your identity or authority to make the request and confirm the personal information relates to you. We will only use personal information provided in a verifiable consumer request to verify the requestor’s identity or authority to make the request.

Response Timing and Format

We endeavor to respond to a verifiable consumer request within forty-five (45) days of its receipt. If we require more time (up to 90 days), we will inform you of the reason and extension period in writing. We will deliver our written response by mail or electronically, at your option. Any disclosures we provide will only cover the 12-month period preceding the verifiable consumer request’s receipt. The response we provide will also explain the reasons we cannot comply with a request, if applicable. For data portability requests, we will select a format to provide your personal information that is readily usable and should allow you to transmit the information from one entity to another entity without hindrance, specifically by electronic mail communication.

We do not charge a fee to process or respond to your verifiable consumer request unless it is excessive, repetitive, or manifestly unfounded. If we determine that the request warrants a fee, we will tell you why we made that decision and provide you with a cost estimate before completing your request.

Personal Information Sales Opt-Out and Opt-In Rights

Mediacurrent does not sell your personal information.

In the event that Mediacurrent does begin to engage in personal information sales, this website will be updated to provide you with information to exercise your right of opt-out and opt-in with respect to sales of your personal information. 

Non-Discrimination

We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights. Unless permitted by the CCPA, we will not:

  • Charge you different prices or rates for goods or services, including through granting discounts or other benefits, or imposing penalties.

California’s “Shine the Light” law (Civil Code Section § 1798.83) permits users of our Website that are California residents to request certain information regarding our disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes.
