AJC Top Workplaces Badge

For the second year in a row, Mediacurrent is excited to announce that we’ve been awarded a spot in the Small Company Division of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s 2020 Top Workplaces awards; this year we placed at number 42. This annual honor recognizes the top 150 companies to work for in Atlanta and is determined through an anonymous employee survey that measures several aspects of workplace culture, including benefits, career development, and employee engagement.

The Top Workplaces award is a testament to the forward-thinking culture that Mediacurrent co-founders, Dave Terry and Paul Chason have created over the past 13 years. As an Atlanta digital agency with a distributed remote workforce, this recognition proves that our commitment to building a collaborative culture has paid off again.

“We are honored to win the Top Workplaces Award for the second straight year! In the ever-evolving digital agency landscape we compete in, it's gratifying to see our team continue to validate that we are nurturing a culture that supports growth and learning.” - Paul Chason, co-founder of Mediacurrent.

The Back Story

Beginning in 2007, Paul Chason and Dave Terry ( lifelong, childhood friends) noticed a need in the marketplace for digital agencies that could assist organizations with adopting an open source software based web strategy. In 2012, our team grew by 50 percent, reaching 28 staff members, and today we have a team of more than 90 talented technology and marketing professionals specializing in open source software. Dave and Paul decided early on that culture would be at the forefront of the efforts when staffing the agency.

“We have been dedicated to intentional and mindful hiring from very early on with the understanding that our only competitive and sustainable advantage is our culture,” said Dave Terry, co-founder of Mediacurrent.“ This award is validation that a core part of our culture is predicated around hiring. We are humbled by and value our team’s feedback which put us on this list. We look forward to continuing to hire the right people for our culture and improve their work-lives.”

Award-Winning Culture

At Mediacurrent, our culture is very important to us. We understand that culture is our only sustainable competitive advantage, so we work hard to maintain a strong team and company culture. One of the greatest perks we offer, according to our team, is working and collaborating with a group of talented individuals that are passionate about what they do. We hire people who want to be the best at their craft.

We work hard to differentiate our culture from our competitors so that we are able to keep the most competitive team in the industry. We offer benefits such as working 100% remote (and in-office team members work remote 1 day per week), continuing education and tech stipend, employee referral bonus program, a 9/80 schedule option, diversity programs, and much more. Aside from our benefits, we keep our staff engaged with monthly incentivized games, exciting new hire employee packages, weekly employee awards, monthly lunch n’ learns, a fully-stocked office kitchen, catered lunches, holiday gifts, birthday shoutouts, and much more!

From the Team

We asked our team to share some of the insight they provided to AJC. Here’s what they had to say about the Mediacurrent Culture:

"Literally everyone is nice and helpful at all times. Leadership wants everyone to succeed and helps work through problems instead of immediately being punitive."

"I get to work on meaningful projects and am trusted to care for those brands."

"It is rewarding and offers the balance needed while working for a great company and team."

"I don’t only get to work from home, the people I work with really appreciate my hard work and the value I bring to the team. I’m given a lot of respect and encouragement that my skills are seen and important."

"Cooperative culture."

"Initially it was because I was coming into a job that finally had a good work/life balance and I really needed that at the time. Now it's because I can finally use some time to learn more about subjects that I'm interested in and apply that new knowledge to actual work. It is a great feeling to be able to do that. On top of that, I've met several new people that have all been incredibly supportive that I'd now consider friends."

"It gives me the opportunity to do what I love."
