Each month, we spotlight one of our amazing team members who work hard to bring you great results. Today, we interviewed Jaime Ujj from our digital strategy team. Let's get started!
1. What’s your role at Mediacurrent, both internally and client-related?
As a senior data analyst, my responsibilities focus on implementing website tag management tools, general reporting, and helping clients find opportunities for improvements based on their website performance data.
2. Give us an idea of what professional path brought you here.
After I earned my BA in Liberal Arts from St John’s College, I moved abroad to teach English in South Korea. Upon returning to the US I started my MA in International Human Rights at The University of Denver. During this time I was able to move abroad several times for different international opportunities.
Once I finished my MA I was given an opportunity for a trial at a small digital marketing firm in New Jersey. This was my first introduction to data analysis and SEO and from there I went onto QVC where I was a digital analyst. My husband was working remotely during this time, so I decided to pursue a new position with a bit more flexibility. I was lucky enough to stumble on a Mediacurrent posting and over three years later, I am still here and happy.
3. How did you first get involved with Drupal?
Mediacurrent is my first involvement with Drupal.
4. Is there a go-to Drupal module that you like to incorporate whenever possible?
The GA and GTM modules are great but I am also a big fan of Schema.org Metatag module. Having implemented this module for a few clients we were able to see substantial improvements in SEO ranking.
5. Do you have any recommended reading or books that you would suggest to others?
When friends are dealing with difficult relationships, either personal or professional, I recommend Emotional Vampires by Albert Bernstein.
6. Any mobile apps that you use regularly?
Social apps, music apps, banking apps, nothing too unique #areyouboredyet?
7. What do you like to do in your spare time?
I spend my time with family, we like to get outside, I enjoy camping, the beach, hiking, bike riding, wakeboarding and playing small games with my one-year-old (like throwing a ball at the wall). My husband loves board games so I occasionally dive into those including Settlers of Catan and Carcassonne. My husband also has a motorcycle and so before our little one, we would spend weekends going for scenic rides. I used to do a lot more sports but after three ACL replacement surgeries on my right knee, I finally gave up soccer and snowboarding - although I have every intention of snowboarding again.
8. What do you like about Mediacurrent?
The people and the flexibility. Mediacurrent is made up of kind, brilliant, hard-working people who I learn from every day. Additionally, the flexibility of working remotely has allowed me to move a few times including a cross country move from the east coast to the west coast all while maintaining my career and continuing to grow in my role.
