1. What’s your role at Mediacurrent, both internally and client-related?

Director of Quality Assurance, but I have always maintained that anyone in a leadership role should consider themselves a servant leader.

My goal is to create other leaders within my department by setting them up for success, making sure they have everything they need as well as collaborating with my fellow department leaders weekly to ensure transparency with the direction of QA at Mediacurrent.

When I am working on a client’s project, my focus is on finding any issues or defects brought about in the natural development cycle and then report these defects to the development team.

In addition to traditional Verification/Validation testing, our QA team is proactive in testing, by setting up Visual Regression Testing, Automation, and Performance testing in addition to performing Regression and Exploratory tests.

2. Give us an idea of what professional path brought you here.

I have always had a passion for leadership and mentoring.

In 2009 I was given the opportunity to start an I.T. department from scratch at a multi-million dollar studio. It started with just myself and I grew it to 5 locations over several countries. It was a very rewarding experience, but as the studio I was located at moved to another state, I couldn’t follow due to family commitments at the time.

After leaving there in 2012 I had a very unique opportunity to start and grow a QA Department from scratch at another agency. This was something I was very excited about because QA had always been something I had a passion for and it never felt like a job. I was able to grow the department to 5 people which was the maximum the agency could support due to the developer/QA ratio. Sadly this time I was the one that needed to move and the agency did not allow for remote work so I had to look elsewhere.

I spoke with Mediacurrent in 2016 and was overwhelmed with excitement after just hearing their vision, priorities on culture and passion for their industry. Imagine my excitement when they told me they needed someone to help establish and grow their QA department! So here we are 2 years, 7 months later, we have a thriving QA department and I feel so very lucky to be able to work with these amazing people every day.

3. How did you first get involved with Drupal?

I have used CMS systems in the past, including Drupal but it really became a big focus of mine once I joined Mediacurrent.

Before joining Mediacurrent and seeing their passion for Drupal, I had no idea such a wonderful community of insanely talented people existed. I am always so happy and love meeting people at Drupal conventions, camps or even community meetups.

4. Is there a go-to Drupal module that you like to incorporate whenever possible?

I love to test all Drupal modules! It is really fun to be able to contribute by finding issues and reporting them.

5. Do you have any recommended reading or books that you would suggest to others?

The Great Game of Business is an amazing read and I highly suggest it to others!

6. Any mobile apps that you use regularly?
I have really been enjoying Whats App. It has allowed me to keep up with my friends who live in other countries and use other mobile devices. Other than that, I have been loving Waze, My Fitness Pal, and other organizing apps.

7. What do you like to do in your spare time?

I love to get out of the house and do something to improve myself at least once a day so during the week I go to the gym and do some Kickboxing and then on the weekend I try to do at least one long walk.

Other than that I am a huge gamer and love to grill out and cook some awesome food!

8. What do you like about Mediacurrent?

Well I could say the usual things like “our benefits are amazing”, “the pay is great” or “I love to have every other Friday off” but to be honest, the thing I love most about Mediacurrent is the people I work with.

I am so proud and happy with the leadership team I get to work with and the teams I get to collaborate and give feedback on, and help create some really amazing products.

That is something Mediacurrent holds dear to its core: culture and collaboration. The leadership team openly remarks “Culture is the only truly sustainable competitive advantage for a Drupal business” and with that in mind they love to collaborate, review or just simply listen to all feedback. Why? Because Mediacurrent is not a stagnant company, it is always growing and always wanting to be better than it was the day before.
