On Friday, October 26th, in conjunction with Drupalcamp Atlanta, Mediacurrent will be hosting a Media Code Sprint in honor of Aaron Winborn. The event will be held from 9am - 5pm EST in the Stanhope room of the Waverly Hotel. If you have the availability and the know-how, we’d love to have you.
However, if you’re interested in helping out but are new/unfamiliar to code contribution, Mediacurrent still has you covered. On the same day, in the same room, at the same time, Kevin Basarab and myself will be hosting a Core Mentoring Sprint. Our plan is to follow a similar pattern as the previous widely successful sprints, but also focus in on media / file related issues. Here is the schedule and topics:
- Welcome and general review
- Introduction of lead mentors and their stories
- Environment setup
- Git usage (just the basics, but for a deeper dive into git, be sure to check out Blue Collar Git)
- Patch creation
- Core issue queue
- Core office hours website
- Patch review
- Issue queue / IRC etiquette
After the initial introduction, the rest of the day will be spent working through the tasks on the core office hours website. Several volunteers from Mediacurrent will be available to assist in any questions that arise during the process. Coffee and water will be available in the room, however lunch will not be provided. We will have a flyer available listing local lunch places within walking distance.
Also, as an important reminder, please don’t be shy or nervous about getting involved with adding your two cents to Drupal. Drupal contributors’ knowledge and experience range all the way from beginning developers to professionals. Drupal core sorely needs fresh faces... Drupal needs you! Sign up today! </propaganda>
