If you are in the metro Atlanta area, and have an interest in web technologies, content management systems (CMS), open source, or of course Drupal in general you should check out one of our next Atlanta Drupal User Group (ADUG) meetings. We usually meet on the 2nd and 3rd Tuesday every month and start around 6:30pm. The meeting on the 2nd Tuesdays are workshops designed to break up into small groups where topics of interest are broken down and tackled. The 3rd Tuesday meeting provides an opportunity to hear insightful presentations from industry leaders. Both meet-ups have something different to offer, but are unintimidating, laid back, intellectually stimulating, and a socializing component. We bring together a cross-section of individuals (beginner to advanced) to talk about a variety of topics predicated around Drupal. Here are a few reasons on why you may want to attend: (1.) Drupal is exploding in popularity and it’s a great skill set to learn, (2.) all meetings are FREE, (3.) there’s lots of networking opportunities to connect with new people, (4.) informative presentations, and (5.) for those working on projects it’s a chance to give back and share with your local community.
What are the next steps you ask – it’s really easy! There are several places you should acquaint yourself with and get registered:

http://groups.drupal.org/drupal-atlanta (our subgroup profile on groups.drupal.org, which serves the Drupal community for groups to organize)

|PROGRAM: DrupalCon 2009 Debriefing
WHEN: Tuesday, March 17th, 2009 at 6:30pm
WHERE: MATRIX Resources (new location)
DrupalCon is coming to Washington DC March 3rd through the 7th. Think of DrupalCon in relation to Drupal as the SuperBowl is to football -- it's the official unconference that attracts the most talented open source developers and innovative Drupal shops in the world. This year’s DrupalCon boasts over 100+ breakout sessions, 1300+ attendees, the always anticipated keynote from the founder of Drupal, lots of networking events and plenty of opportunity to exchange Drupal war stories.
For our March 17th ADUG meetup we’ll be bringing together a panel of Atlanta Drupal stars fresh from the conference to give a play-by-play recap of tips, best practices and plans for the future development of the Drupal platform. This meet-up is for EVERYONE – from those curious to learn more about Drupal to experienced developers. Drupal’s popularity continues to spike, and this is an awesome opportunity to find out why! (For more information, see http://dc2009.drupalcon.org). In short, this is the next best thing to attending the conference in person. Oh, did I mention, we’ll have FREE pizza and sodas courtesy of our sponsor, MATRIX Resources.
Are you from Atlanta and going to Drupalcon? If so, and you would like to participate on the panel, please get in touch with me at dave dot terry at mediacurrent dot com.
