ADUG + Open PublishThis month the Atlanta Drupal User Group (ADUG) continued our discussion on the Drupal distribution Open Publish (OP). The presentation was conducted by the actual creators of Open Publish, Phase2 Technology, after their originally scheduled visit was postponed due to the winter blizzards earlier in the year.

We had a strong showing of 40 Drupal enthusiasts ranging from beginners, business owners, corporate employees, and seasoned developers. Jeff Walpole, CEO of Phase2, talked about the history of OP, where things are headed, and the desire to outreach for more community collaboration. Frank Febbraro, CTO at Phase2, elaborated on more of the technical features, modules, architecture, and highlighted a few use cases. I found it particularly interesting to hear that Jeff said over 2500+ hours went into developing Open Publish, and they continue to stay on an aggressive release cycle. However, as OP reaches a critical inflection point the need for additional resources to help with documentation, patches, testing, etc. is highly wanted. If you are interested in learning how you can get more involved be sure to join the Open Publish subgroup. read more »

Ad Giants came to Mediacurrent as open-source advocates. They wanted to understand how they could better leverage Drupal to accomplish a revolutionary marketing idea called MODsocket.
