The attendee list at this week’s Atlanta Drupal Meetup group ran a wide gauntlet. There was a mix of business owners, newbies, marketers, and even someone with a Drupal.org ID under 1000. We broke up our normal presentation format and had informal talks about Drupalcon Denver, the job market, and trends. As usual, we went around the room and allowed for introductions and announcements. When one of the attendees, we’ll call him “Jack”, was in the hot seat, he gave a typical hello, but then broke the introduction format and asked a question back to the crowd. He asked, “I’ve only been working with Drupal for a few weeks, what tips do you have for those that are just starting out?”

Drupalcamp Atlanta 2011 is now open for registration, and will be held on Saturday, October 1st from 8am – 5pm at the Georgia Tech Research Institute. Our mission and purpose is twofold: (1.) we want to educate people about Drupal and (2.) further evangelize Drupal within our geographic region.  The 3rd annual Drupalcamp Atlanta is an attendee driven, completely volunteer initiative.

At this year's Drupalcamp Atlanta, Steven Jackson and I co-presented the topic "Getting Started with Drupal Translations". Both Steven and I submitted similar sessions, and the organizers thought it would be a good idea for the two of us to combine our proposed topics into one presentation. This worked out great!

The Drupalcamp Atlanta 2010 organizers had an ambitious goal of professionally recording every snippet of material we could this year (including BoFs). I am proud to report that vision is now a reality. Knowledge share is an integral part of the Drupal community and FREE footage like this is an awesome give-back.

On Saturday, October 2nd 225 Drupal'ers from primarily around the Southeast convened for an intensive day of learning and networking at Drupalcamp Atlanta 2010. The event was highlighted by a blunt, but highly insightful morning keynote by Jeff Wapole from Phase2 Technology. Jeff asserted that the Drupal community is at a major inflection point.

We held a WYSIWYG Shootout last Saturday at Drupalcamp Atlanta (see presentation slides here, with video of the session forthcoming). The stated purpose of the session:

"Select the best editor, available through the WYSIWYG Module, for common content entry tasks in Drupal."

As the momentum builds around Drupalcamp Atlanta 2010, I thought it would be an opportune time to highlight some exciting updates. Most notably, Jeff Walpole, CEO of Phase2 Technology, has been announced as the keynote speaker.

As a Drupal developer, I am constantly trying to streamline and generally make my processes as efficient as possible. With that said, I have seen tremendous value incorporating Features in just about everything that I do Drupal-related. Recently, I shared a snapshot at a Mediacurrent staff meeting of a more in-depth presentation I would like to do at the upcoming Drupalcamp Atlanta.

As a member of the Mediacurrent team, I was lucky enough to be afforded the opportunity to present at this year’s Drupalcamp South Carolina during SouthEast LinuxFest 2010.  My topic was predicated around drush, a tool that every Drupal developer should have in their arsenal. The combination of a command line shell with standard Drupal functions and some very useful time saving utilities make drush a powerful Drupal tool.
