Today, we are pleased to announce that Mediacurrent  is part of a project team selected to do a major website redesign for the City of Memphis, Tennessee. The City of Memphis will move off of their current ASP-based platform to Drupal and the OpenPublic distribution.  We will be teaming up with two partners on the engagement – Linx Consulting, a Memphis based information technology services provider, and Phase2 Technology the creators of OpenPublic.

I got involved with Drupal in 2007 when I decided I wanted to build an online community of young people interested in politics in order to encourage their interest and activism. I was in way over my head; I had dabbled with a number of desktop programming languages, but I had never built a website. I got my first hosting account on my dad's recommendation, and it came with an installer for a large number of open-source software in a variety of categories.

As more organizations continue to build sites on Drupal, an estimated 400,000+ at last count, the issue of search engine optimization (SEO) becomes even more paramount. Not only do customers demand an amazingly built site, but they need to employ techniques that drive higher conversions and overall traffic.
