Today, we are pleased to announce that Mediacurrent  is part of a project team selected to do a major website redesign for the City of Memphis, Tennessee. The City of Memphis will move off of their current ASP-based platform to Drupal and the OpenPublic distribution.  We will be teaming up with two partners on the engagement – Linx Consulting, a Memphis based information technology services provider, and Phase2 Technology the creators of OpenPublic.

At the end of this month on September 30th, Mediacurrent is helping organize the first-ever Atlanta Drupal Business Summit. To my knowledge, this is the only time an event tailored to non-developers (i.e. the “suits”) has been held in direct conjunction with a regional Drupalcamp. Let me be blunt, I think Drupal has a serious problem that it needs to address soon, very soon.

Manhattan Associates is a publicly traded, Atlanta headquartered company that is the global leader in international supply chain management. Mediacurrent launched a single Drupal installation powering six fully translated language versions of their primary website. This allowed Manhattan Associates to serve targeted marketing materials and company resources to all of their global vicinities.

I got involved with Drupal in 2007 when I decided I wanted to build an online community of young people interested in politics in order to encourage their interest and activism. I was in way over my head; I had dabbled with a number of desktop programming languages, but I had never built a website. I got my first hosting account on my dad's recommendation, and it came with an installer for a large number of open-source software in a variety of categories.
